The Highway Traffic Act,
the Railway Safety Act and You!
Obeying the crossing signals isn't just good practice, it's the
law! Failing to obey the rules of the road near or at railway
crossings is not only illegal but also deadly!
For more information, go to sections 26.1 and 26.2 of the Railway
Safety Act. Here are a couple of examples of some charges under
the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Don't forget, there is a victim
surcharge added to the fine!
